Halloween Snacks

It's the spookiest time of year, but that doesn't mean you have to be spooked by the snacks at the party...

Oof that was a rough one. My apologies. Anyways, Halloween is not one of my favorite holidays, but I do love celebrating all holidays and what's a holiday without themed snacks?! These are a few *somewhat* healthy options that are tasty and rather easy to whip up!

Harvest Chex Mix

What You'll Need:

2 Cups Chex Cereal

2 Cups Pretzels

2 Cups Bugles Chips

1 Cup Candy Corn

3/4 Cup M&Ms

1/2 Cup Peanuts

5 Tbsp Coconut Oil (or Butter)

2 Tsp Seasoned Salt

1 1/2 Tsp Garlic Salt

1 Tsp Onion Powder

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 250 degrees and prep a baking sheet.

  2. Combine the chex, pretzels, bugles and peanuts. Set aside.

  3. Combine the melted coconut oil, seasoned salt, garlic salt and onion powder then slowly pour over the chex mix. Stir slowly until combined. Carefully place the chex mixture on the baking sheet.

  4. Once preheated, put the baking sheet into the oven for 40-50 minutes, stirring carefully every 10 minutes until the mixture is roasted.

  5. Once roasted, remove from the oven and let cool.

  6. After cooling, add in the candy corn and M&Ms then stir together.

Roasted Pumpkin Seeds

What You'll Need:

Pumpkin Seeds

Garlic Salt

Olive Oil

Instructions:

  1. Remove your pumpkin seeds from a pumpkin.

  2. Rinse and wash the seeds.

  3. Boil the pumpkin seeds in water. Use 2 cups of water for every 1 cup of pumpkin seeds. Once you've brought to a boil, drain the water and set aside.

  4. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees and prepare a baking sheet.

  5. Take the pumpkin seeds and toss with oil and salt (or garlic salt).

  6. Once the oven is preheated, brown/roast for 5-20 minutes, or until roasted as desired.

Jalapeño Mummy Bites

What You'll Need:

8-10 Jalapenos

1 Pkg of Crescents

1 Cup Shredded Cheese

32-40 Brown M&M's (for Candy Eyes)

8-10 Slices of Bacon (if desired)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees and prepare a baking sheet.

  2. Slice the jalapeños in half lengthwise and seed/core them.

  3. Pinch two crescents together to form a rectangle. With a knife or pizza cutter, cut into long, thin strips. The strips should be about 1-1.5 inches wide.

  4. Add the cheese into the core area of the jalapeños and then roll them up with the bacon (if desired) and crescents.

  5. Wrap the strips around the stuffed jalapeños as desired.

  6. Bake for 12-14 minutes.

  7. Remove and let cool for about 10 minutes.

  8. Once nearly cooled, place the candy eyes into the jalapeños.
