The #HotGirlWalk has become increasingly popular on social media and I understand the hype... there are a lot of great benefits of walking daily.
Walking daily is a great way to improve your physical and mental health, while also getting some time outdoors (if you are able to walk outside). No matter where you are in your fitness journey, it's a great idea to add walking to your routine. I like to recommend at least 30 minutes, but just start, even if you're starting at 10 minutes, you'll see benefits.
The Physical:
Improves cardiovascular health.
Helps you maintain a healthy weight.
Strengthens bones and muscles.
Increases energy levels.
Improves balance and coordination.
The Mental and Emotional:
Reduces stress.
Improves sense of self and emotional well-being.
Can help with feelings of sadness and depression.
Can reduce anxiety.
The Unexpected:
Can improve sleep quality.
Can improve memory and cognitive function.
Do I Need Anything to Start?
Absolutely not. Good walking shoes and comfortable attire is recommended, but anytime you are continually walking for a period of time you are benefiting. If it all feels overwhelming, start by parking your car at the back of the lot. Or take a lap around your local mall. Spend an extra 5 minutes taking your dog for a walk. Just START!
