September Challenge: Wellness + Macros

As difficult as it is, I like to do my best to be honest with myself and if I'm being honest with myself right now... I haven't been as "on track" with my overall health and wellness as I'd like...

Work has been crazy this year, throw in wedding planning and the stress of a global pandemic and well, I've slipped up. Am I eating like trash and not working out? No. I've maintained my workout routine and I eat fairly well, I just know myself and I know I could be more intentional about it all. So, I've decided to make September all about my overall health and wellness.

This month's challenge isn't going to be so cut and dry as they usually are and it's going to be a multi-parter. Each aspect of it will be meant to help me with my overall wellness.

Part 1 - Meditation

I've done this one before and it's usually the sole challenge of the month. I actually have adopted this into my daily life for the most part, but don't get to it every day. With that, during the month of September I will meditate for 10 minutes every day.

Part 2 - Macros

This is where I've lost track the most... Again, I eat very healthy and have had no problem holding to my 80/20 rule (more information on that here). However, I haven't been counting macros and though I don't need to lose weight, I'd like to have a little more energy so I'm committing to staying on track with my macros for one whole month. I am going to allow myself 3 days throughout the month to slack a bit, but that's it.

Part 3 - Abs

One of my 2020 goals was to be able to do a 2 minute plank by the end of the year... I'm slacking. If I'm being honest, this wasn't the best goal for me seeing as I hate planks, but I made it a goal, so let's see what we can do. In the month of September I will do 30 planks of 1 minute and 15 seconds each. I will work on doing at least one a day, but in the past I've gotten sore and it's sometimes easier to do 2 in a day and take a day off here and there to let my muscles rest...

Accountability and Tracking - Because so much of this has to do with mental and physical wellness I will take photos at the beginning and end to see how I've progressed. I'll share them here on the blog at the end of it all (likely on October 1st or 2nd). I'll be tracking my meditation and planks on our wall calendar and macros in my FitnessPal app.

Wish me luck... this one will be a doozy!
