My Workbook: 5-Day Workout Plan
ICYMI I wrote a Workbook! It's filled with tips, tricks, templates and tools that can help you manage your stress and anxiety. I've even included a 5-Day Workout Plan.
Fitness boosts vital “happy” hormones that help us to achieve a more optimal mental state. Whenever I think of the movie “Legally Blonde”, I think of the ridiculous, yet relevant quote, “Exercise gives you endorphins, endorphins make you happy, happy people just don’t kill their husbands.” And Elle Woods is correct, exercise gives you endorphins.
Fun fact, some women report feeling less painful cramps when they work out during their period. Why? The endorphins act as pain blockers. Personally, the very last thing I want to do on the first day of my period is workout, but when I do a mild, low intensity workout, I usually end up feeling less pain. Cool, right?
Engaging in a healthy lifestyle and fitness can also be empowering. Empowerment is a great way to boost one’s mood, while also combating anxiety-inducing fears. For example, one might be fearful of public situations because they are afraid of confrontation and like they are unable to properly stand up for themselves. Being empowered by fitness and weightlifting can help ease those fears. Weightlifting has helped me immensely to feel more confident and self-assured in public. Though luckily, I’ve never needed to defend myself, I feel much more able to do so now than I did when I was more sedentary.
