May Self-Care Challenge Check In #3
Every day during the month of May I am committing to self-care. In addition, I will be keeping track of what I do every day and sharing it right here on my blog. Self-care plays a vital role in managing stress and anxiety because it helps one to fill up their own cup.
Here are the rules:
Minimum 20 minutes of self-care each day.
Workouts don't count.
No cell phone allowed during self-care time.
Just about halfway through this challenge I must say that getting creating with my self-care is starting to become difficult. I am working on forgiving and being patient with myself by telling myself it is ok to have the same self-care multiple days in one week, as long as I am actually giving myself a break and taking care of myself, that's what really matters.
So, here is my latest check in and how the past 7 days looked:
May 15th - Epsom Salt Bath
Epsom salt baths can be very cleansing and have always helped me relax! Dr. Teal's has some great epsom salt products for baths. I love their Lavender and Pink Himalayan Salt options.
May 16th - Face Mask
Face masks are literally my saving grace when it comes to skin care. I struggle with keeping up a nightly skincare routine and generally prefer to use only water when washing my face. Face masks give me a little boost!
May 17th - Pool & Read
Where we live has 3 awesome resort-style pools, and it's often difficult to stay away. Lately it's been unusually rainy in Southern California so I like to take advantage of any sunny day we get by spending at least 30 minutes at the pool.
May 18th - Face Mask
I like to switch between face masks and generally find the best results when I switch between them. Each face mask has its own benefits and it's important to know the benefits of each and how they interact with your skin.
May 19th - Face Mask
Generally I do exfoliating and cleansing masks 2/3rd's of the time and hydrating masks 1/3rd of the time. Keep in mind I have oily to normal skin and I've found this combo works for me. If you have dry skin, you might need more hydration.
May 20th - Bath
I've said this before, and I'll keep saying it. Baths, if done correctly, can be one of the most relaxing things you will experience. Try adding essential oils and candles for even more relaxation.
May 21st - Yoga Flow
I REALLY need to work on stretching before and after I work out. I spend a lot of time lifting weights, and not enough time stretching my muscles back out afterwards. Because of this, I try to incorporate a weekly yoga flow.
